Common Upholstery Questions

How do I get started?

You can call, email, or connect with us via the Contact Us button on our home page. Please provide photos of your boat upholstery, a description of what you want upholstered, and your boat location.

Can you reupholster singular boat seats?

In many cases, we can work on individual seats or cushions as well as full boat upholstery projects.

Do you upholster commercial vessels?

Yes, we provide boat upholstery services for commercial boats, but our work will not carry a warranty due to the constant wear and tear that commercial boats experience.

Should I order Boat Seat Reupholstery or buy new boat seats?

In most cases, boat seat reupholstery is the better choice because it allows you to keep the original fit and structure of your seats while completely refreshing their appearance. Instead of being limited to whatever colors and styles are available from replacement seat manufacturers, reupholstery lets you choose the exact marine vinyl color and texture you want.

Reupholstery is especially valuable when your seats already fit your boat properly, because replacing them with generic new seats can create problems with size, mounting, layout, and appearance. During the reupholstery process, you can restore the original design or upgrade it with a completely different style while keeping the seat base, shape, and fit that were made for your boat.

What types of reupholstery services do you offer?

We offer boat seat reupholstery, cushion replacement, bolster upholstery, foam replacement, vinyl replacement, custom stitching, custom pleating, and other marine upholstery services.

What types of boats do you upholster?

We work on many types of boats, including center consoles, pontoons, deck boats, fishing boats, cruisers, yachts, and more.

Do you only provide boat upholstery services, or do you work on yachts too?

We provide upholstery services for both boats and yachts, including standard marine seating, custom cushions, bolsters, and luxury interior work.

Our Boat Upholstery Process

How long does a boat upholstery project take?

The length of a boat upholstery job is divided into three parts: Availability of materials, Possible disassembly/reassembly, and labor.

Material Availability: Our vendors keep an abundant stock of all types of marine vinyl and fabric, meaning in most cases we will not need to wait on materials to restock or deliver. If the materials are in stock, it takes about 1 to 1hr 30mins to get the materials.

Disassembly/Reassembly: Not all upholstery requires this step, only those which are stapled onto wooden boards. Typically takes 1hr to 1hr 30 mins to both disassemble and reassemble.

Labor: Reupholstery typically takes up to four hours based on the size of the cushion requiring reupholstery. Custom and Luxury Upholstery may take significantly longer, as they require manual installation of pleating, piping, and developing a customized design. However, buying already pleated vinyl may speed this process up excessively, saving days.

Foam Replacement (Optional): Foam replacement is optional and its completion time can vary on the shape and size of the seat. Will typically take 1 to 2 hours to complete if a non complicated, flat cushion, or 2-3 hours if it has many curves.

Summary: Reupholstery without foam replacement of a single, not complicated unit of boat seating usually takes up to four to five hours. Custom and Luxury Upholstery can take from four to eight hours longer due to custom pleating patterns, piping installation, and foam replacement. The above completion times are merely estimates based on our work experience. Identical completion times are not guaranteed, though we will strive our best to provide both quality and efficiency.

Can I bring my boat to you?

Sadly, not at this time. Our Hallandale Beach office does not currently have available parking for boats.

Travel Fees and Pricing

Do you offer disassembly/reassembly services?

Experiencing difficulty disassembling your boat upholstery? We have you covered! Our employees are professionals and are extremely efficient at what they do. This service provides two professionals who disassemble/reassemble for you!

Uninstallation and reinstallation: $100 per hour. This rate covers two workers arriving on site to disassemble and reassemble your seating. Billing begins the moment our team boards your boat. Time is rounded up to the nearest hour, so even if less than a full hour of work is performed, it is billed as one full hour.

Travel: $100 per hour. This rate also covers both workers traveling to and from the job site. Travel time is billed both to your location and back, and there is no free travel time included. Travel time is also rounded up to the nearest hour, so any travel of less than one hour is billed as one full hour.

How much does boat upholstery cost?

The cost of upholstering a single unit of boat upholstery varies based on size and service tier (reupholstery, custom upholstery, luxury upholstery.)

Boat Seat Reupholstery: $225+. Reupholstering one standard boat seat or cushion starts at $225, scaling upwards based on size, color combinations, and materials used.

Custom Boat Upholstery: $500+. Custom upholstery gets noticeably more expensive as it commonly requires the installation of piping, pleating of vinyl and fabric, customized design/layout, and foam replacement.

Luxury Boat Upholstery: $750+. Luxury upholstery focuses on premium materials, advanced stitching patterns, detailed panel layouts, upgraded foam, and highly refined finishing. This level of service is ideal for boat and yacht owners who want a distinctive, high-end interior with greater attention to detail, comfort, and overall appearance.

Hourly labor rates. Labor on each tier is billed by the hour, in addition to the starting prices above.

Boat Seat Reupholstery: $40 per hour. Reupholstery of a standard boat bench seat is estimated at 5 to 6 hours.

Custom Upholstery: $80 per hour. The timeframe varies based on the size of the piece and the complexity of the design and upholstery work involved, so it is quoted per project rather than as a fixed number of hours.

Luxury Upholstery: $125 per hour. The timeframe varies based on the size of the piece, so it is also quoted per project rather than as a fixed number of hours.

How much does captain's chair upholstery cost?

Captain's chair and helm seat upholstery is priced separately from standard boat seats, because helm seats involve more seams, contours, panels, and hardware.

Standard Captain's Chair Reupholstery: $550+

Two-Tone / Detailed Captain's Chair Reupholstery: $700+

Custom Captain's Chair Upholstery: $900+

Luxury Captain's Chair Upholstery: $1,200+

Pricing varies by chair size, number of panels, armrests, flip-up bolsters, foam condition, material selection, and design complexity. A flip-up bolster, armrests, multiple detachable sections, or a molded shell that requires disassembly can raise the price. Removal and reinstallation is billed at $100 per hour for two workers, and foam replacement is quoted separately rather than bundled into these tiers.

How much does foam replacement cost?

Foam replacement is priced per square yard, based on how thick the foam in your cushions needs to be.

1" Foam Replacement: $80 per square yard

2" Foam Replacement: $100 per square yard

3" Foam Replacement: $125 per square yard

4" Foam Replacement: $175 per square yard

5"+ Foam Replacement: Inquire for pricing

How square yardage is calculated: Foam replacement is priced per cushion. Multiply the length of the cushion in feet by its width in feet, then divide that number by 9 to get square yards. That result is then rounded up to the next whole square yard. Foam is bought by the square yard and cannot be purchased in partial yards, so covering any amount over a whole yard means buying the next full yard of foam. That full yard is what gets billed, which is why a cushion is never billed for less than 1 square yard even when its actual area is smaller.

Example 1: A 1" thick cushion measuring 3 ft by 1 ft is 3 square feet, which works out to 0.33 square yards. Because that rounds up to 1 square yard, it is billed as 1 square yard, for a total of $80.

Example 2: A 1" thick cushion measuring 1.1 square yards still needs 2 full yards of foam to cover it, because the extra 0.1 cannot be bought on its own. It is billed for 2 square yards, not 1.1, for a total of 2 × $80 = $160.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Cash, Check, Zelle, Credit Card, Debit Card, Bank Transfer / ACH, and Cashier's check. Please be aware that payment by check or other methods that require a delay to process the funds will also cause a delay in project start/completion. We will wait for the check to fully deposit before beginning work. If you wish to pay via another payment method, please contact us. We also accept gold and silver.

We offer free estimates
